3 Things to Do to start your year strong $$
Happy New Year š
It's the first newsletter of the year. Writing to you from the Philippines and flying back to USA tomorrow after a 3 week (of unpaid) vacation which is not really a vacation if you have two toddlers with you. LOL.
As we step into 2025, letās also commit to taking care of ourselves, especially when it comes to our finances. This year, weāre going to take actionable steps to make FINANCIAL FREEDOM happen. I am here to help you achieve some actionable steps this year.
Hereās a simple 3-step framework to start your financial journey this year:
#1 Reflect on Last Year
Take a moment to review your wins and lessons from 2024. Did you save more? Start investing? Pay off a debt? Celebrate those victories! And for the areas you want to improve, write them down. Awareness is the first step toward change.
As I reflect back on 2024, it has been the year, I made the most money as a nurse and as a business owner- however, it was also the year, I really pushed myself to some uncomfortable limits and made me lose some people along the way. (friendship breakups are hard!)
#2 Set GOALS, but focus on your inputs vs outputs
I love setting goals. If you know me, you know am a list kinda gal. I love checking off lists. I love planning. I love planners. However, I recommend that this year, you focus on your inputs (things you can control) vs the outputs (outcomes). So for example, if you want to "save and complete your emergency fund this year", you can set goals like "put $200 every other week to my savings account". Be very intentional w/ you goals and look at the bigger picture ahead.
#3 Automate Your Plan
As busy nurses, life gets hectic.Automating and setting up systems has been my #1 hack to being successful w/ my finances. I automate all my savings and investments. These are all set up as soon as I get my paycheck. That way, youāre paying yourself first without the stress of remembering.
Inspiration to Keep You Going
This year, imagine this:
- Your money growing while you sleep [create more passive income]
- More time for yourself and your family because youāve set up a plan.
- Confidence in knowing youāre building a secure financial future.
Remember, financial freedom is a journey, not a sprint. Every small step you takeāwhether itās saving $20, starting a side hustle, or learning to investābrings you closer to your goals.
